Wedding... a celebration of joy

A wedding is an event that a couple looks forward to for months or years. Because a wedding is an important date in everyone's life, it knows no cultural boundaries. In some aspects Romanian weddings have likenesses and differences when compared to weddings in the U.S.A.
The bride and the groom start to prepare for the biggest day in their life a long time before.
The bride, the groom and their parents want to share their happiness with their family and friends. They invite everybody to the celebration. Like in the U.S.A. in Romania as well the couple meets at the church where they receive a blessing and the marriage is officiated by the priest. After that, everybody goes to the reception. This could be at the restaurant or in the tent at home.
Before the wedding ceremony at the church the couple has to get married in front of the civil authority. They have to sign the marriage license in front of the mayor of the city.
In contrast to the U.S.A., in the villages in my former country they prepare the food and everything at home instead of using catering businesses or restaurants.
They start to prepare a week before. An expert in cooking and baking helps the female members of the family prepare the food and cakes. The men set up the tent, tables and chairs where the party is going to take place. The night before that the youth decorate the tent.
The wedding ceremony is almost the same, but the preparation is different.
