Alcoholism...slow killer

Alcoholism, an addiction to a poison which causes a slow death, is a worldwide problem.
All over the world a large percent of people become ill, lose everything, and then die if they are not treated; treatment could be group therapy, help from a counselor, or medical professional care.
An alcoholic is that person who lost the freedom or ability to refuse or hold back from drinking alcohol, and become dependent on that.
The use of alcohol causes a lot of damage in the human body. Because of this the body breaks down. For example, alcohol consumption attacks the brain, heart, liver, and each cell of the body.
Because of this illness alcoholics are not able to think clearly, may lose their jobs, money, or family.
Alcohol is a leading factor in deaths; half of national car accidents and half of U.S. homicides are related to alcohol. Twenty-five percent of suicides are connected with that too. According to The Journal of the American Medical Association, the third highest cause of death in the U.S. is the alcohol consumption which killed 3.5% of the population in 2000.
There are a lot of solutions to help the alcoholics to get through this hard situation and regain their health.
One solution could be group therapy when the addiction is at the beginning stage. The alcoholic listens others' testimonies about how they were able to fight, progress, and finally escape from addiction.
Another solution is a counselor who helps to find the root of the problem and assist in the healing process, giving advice.
If the alcoholic is addicted for a longer time, the damage in the body is often in the advanced stage. In that case the rehab center is the best for recovering and treatment. In these medical institutions the alcoholic would be given professional care.
Alcoholics may become ill, lose everything, and even die.
Even though the patient has enough strength of will to escape from this slavery of alcohol with professional care, anything is possible.
With a little help the alcoholics could go back to a healthy lifestyle if they respect all the treatments.

I don't see your thesis statement and 3 solutions.

Hi Eva. Your causes are not very clear. You write more about negative impacts of alcoholism but not about causes.

Topic/Concluding/Thesis: include solutions in your introduction.

You could start your essay with "Alcoholism is a worldwide problem.." and delete the sentences before to make a clearer intro.
Conclusion should have causes and solutions.

Causes/Solutions:
Explain more about solutions.

Transitions/Vocabulary:

a person who is addicted to alcohol is an alcoholic. See if you can use that word in some of your sentences to simplify.
Grammar/Adverb Clauses:

Check subject verb agreement with third person singular.

Could you highlight your adverb clauses?
Where did you find your information? According to..?
