Escape from "Reality"

Sometimes "reality" can be very difficult and complicated. We all have our good and bad days. Sometimes we do not have enough strength to face the difficult times, and we try to find the "new reality" where we feel safe and happy. For example, many older people live alone. Perhaps, their spouse and most of their friends have died. Their children have moved away, and they can see them occasionally on holidays. These older people miss the time when they were responsible for their children and family. These can be reasons why old people feel lonely and depressed. They try to escape from their current reality. Some older people have many pets in their homes. Pets can replace the emptiness they feel. They take care of these pets as if they were their own children. They speak to them and give them attention. They buy them special food and treats. Maybe, this is just a way to feel happy and useful again. For many older people life can be difficult, and sometimes pets help them to escape from "reality".
