cooking......

Cooking must be one of the earliest skills in the human history. It's basically mixing some food together and heating them for a while in order to get a better taste or look, or both. People usually choose one of the ways, which are baking, boiling, frying or roasting to cook things. According to Wikipedia history of roasting and history of fire are the same, which is about 800,000 years. Also history of the pottery and history of boiling are the same, which goes back to 10th millennium BC.
Basic elements of cooking are ingredients that you mix together, tools that you use for cooking, and the skill of the person who is cooking. Probably the most important factor for a delicious food is the ingredients. You need to know what to put together and how much, because not everything goes well with another. For the beginners, who do not know how to cook yet, there is a well known solution, which is following a recipe.

All recipes are simple but they all have specific instructions to do. In order to make dinners, desserts, drinks, salads and soups, one must follow all the instructions one by one. Not all recipes ask for cooking, sometimes you just mix them up. For example, there is a simple and savory drink, which is a Turkish beverage called Airan. Airan is not a fancy drink; however, it is a crowd pleaser. This drink is the best beverage which many individuals truly enjoy during the hot summer days. The drink consists of a mixture of plain yogurt, water and salt that many people consume. Sometimes people add a dried mint mixture to the liquid base as a tasty variation.
An example to a recipe which requires cooking is rice pilaf with chicken. In order to prepare this dish one must have certain ingredients: 1 cup of long-grain rice, ½ cup chopped chicken breast, ¼ cup peas, 1 cup hot water, 2 tbsp butter and 1 tsp salt. First you must wash the rice with warm water and then drain. Next you must melt the butter. Then you add the chopped chicken breast. Once that is done, you need to sauté the chicken. Following this, you add rice to the ingredients and sauté together for 2 additional minutes. For added taste, you add hot water and salt. Cook on low heat until the rice absorbs all the water. Then you add green peas and stir with a fork. Finally you add pilaf and let the entire dish stew for an additional five minutes. To compliment this satisfying meal people have the Airan and a salad with it.

There are lots of other meals which you can cook easily like pilaf; you can find their recipe on the internet sites. There is one thing to cook delicious meals before you learn how to cook; you need to like it first.

I emailed you about your paragraph. This is a great process paragraph, but is not a defintiion paragraph. Your first sentence should be a definition and the examples need to support the definition.

Example:

A chef is a person who can use a wide variety of techniques, recipes, and ingredients to provide beautiful and delicious food.

Main ideas:
Techniques
Recipes
Ingredients

If you have questions, please let me know.

Topic/Concluding Sentence: .25 Your second sentence is a pretty clear definition of cooking. Avoid contractions.

3 supporting ideas: .20
You order the ideas well by putting history first and the most important idea last.

The second idea about the processes is confusing.

Transitions/Vocabulary:.20
you the verb include when you want to make a list of ideas.
Good transitions
not everything goes well together.
Grammar/Adjective Clauses: .25
the history

Nice adjective clause at the end
